About This Piece
Slab-building is a hand-building technique in which flat sheets of clay are shaped and joined — giving the bowl a slightly different character than wheel-thrown pottery. The carved grooves are cut when the clay is leather-hard, and the pattern becomes more defined after glazing and firing.
