This teal stoneware bowl is wheel-thrown and hand-carved with a geometric pattern — the marks made by hand, fired into the clay permanently. The deep teal glaze fills the carved lines, making the pattern shift with the light.
About This Piece
The carving is done after throwing, when the clay is leather-hard — a precise and time-consuming process that gives each bowl its distinct surface texture. Available in two forms: wide and shallow for serving, or deeper and rounded for soups and grains. Fired at high temperatures for durability.
